Gordon Ramsay acquires his first hotel
Yaser Martini Executive Director, Fleurets London
The York & Albany by Regents Park, London is the latest acquisition by Gordon Ramsay Holdings and it's a great deal more than just a pub.
"What is most exciting about this venture is that it offers us a new dimension," explained Gordon Ramsay. "This is a fabulous little hotel, which is new territory for us - of course, attached to it are two restaurants, a deli, private dining areas and a huge bar, but we are now crossing a line that we have previously avoided. It's an opportunity, and isn't that what business growth is all about?"
"We have been working hard to find the right people who can bring our disciplines and standards to this new area of operation and I look forward to seeing where we are a year down the line."
The business has not traded for over two decades and has recently undergone a major refurbishment.
The York & Albany is a Grade II listed building and forms part of the Park Village East development by John Nash, built in 1826/1827. Over the years the pub has been altered, so the ground floor is that of a typical Victorian pub, whilst the upper floors have cornices and ceiling roses dating from the late regency period with Georgian doors and staircase. The pub frontage dates from the 1920s and the comprehensive and sensitive restoration has retained the best period details.
The timing also coincides with the reopening of the Warrington Hotel, Maida Vale, again, after painstaking refurbishment and restoration.
