Fleurets' Joint Managing Director, Martin Willis, has been appointed as agent in the sale of a portfolio of over 80 traditional inns. The majority are freehold and all are open and trading. Martin said 'we were pleasantly surprised, having visited the sites, of the quality of the estate. There is flexibility for a purchaser to operate the estate in a number of ways, so I am expecting some keen interest. Whitbread has reported 26.3% rise in full-year pre-tax profit to £210.3m. The group announced plans to increase the size of Premier Inn by 50% to 55,000 rooms and to double Costa Coffee to 2,000 stores, over the next five years. M&C Report

According to reports, Mitchells & Butlers is continuing discussions with private equity groups about possible investment for a stake of up to 29.9% at a material premium to the share price. But M&B insisted it was not in talks with any potential bidder for the whole company. M&C Report

A deal to buy Regent Inns could be done within weeks according to The Times. Private equity firm Sun Capital Partners, has emerged as front runner but faces competition from privately owned nightclub operator Brooke Leisure, according to the paper.
