The Ivy Collection to open Norwich site

The Caterer has reported that The Ivy Collection intends to launch a brasserie in Norwich. Planning permission has been granted for 30 London Street. The new restaurant will launch in summer this year, offering all-day dining as well as afternoon tea and cocktails.

Moxy Hotel opens in Stratford

Marriott International has opened a new 294-bedroom hotel in Stratford, under its Moxy Hotels brand, according to Hotel Owner. Debuting in September 2014, Marriott International's Moxy Hotels is a budget lifestyle brand with a millennial-focus, targeting tech-savvy young travellers. The new hotel opening marks the third UK site and follows the success of Moxy London ExCeL in Newham. A further seven Moxy hotels are planned for the UK in 2018, covering Glasgow, Edinburgh, Southampton and Bristol.

Tortilla Restaurant Group sees 7.5% increase in like-for-like sales

Tortilla, the burrito and taco specialist restaurant, has reported a 7.5% increase in year-on-year like-for-like sales. Eat Out Magazine reports that the 39-strong chain saw sales increase 20% from 2016, to £30.4 million. Tortilla, owned by Mexican Grill Limited, was founded in 2003 and operates sites in London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, Cardiff and Brighton, as well as franchise restaurants in Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E.

Novus to open two new sites

Novus is set to open two new sites this week according to Propel Info. Wednesday 24th January will see the opening of the third Tank & Paddle in Heddon Street, situated just off Regent Street in Central London. Secondly, the London bar and restaurant operator will open its 11th Balls Brothers site on Thursday 25 January. This opening marks Novus' first venture into Canary Wharf.

New serviced apartment accommodation planned for Manchester

SACO, who specialise in serviced apartment accommodation, has plans to open its third Locke operation in Manchester. Propel Info reports that the Oaktree Capital-backed company has applied for planning permission to convert the former Atrium Serviced Apartments located on the corner of Whitworth Street and Princess Street. The plans propose to extend the room count from 116 to 160 bedrooms as well as increase the restaurant and café space.

Popworld, the pop-themed nightclub chain, is set to open a new bar in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. The new site is expected to open in March this year, and marks the 25th UK operation for the Stonegate Pub Company-owned chain. Pub and Bar Magazine reports that Popworld has seen a 94% return on investment within the last year and has more openings planned.
