Hospitality turnover anticipated to hit £100bn in 2018

The Office for National Statistics and Adia has released data indicating that the combined turnover of businesses providing food and accommodation services will equal £100bn in 2018, according to The Morning Advertiser. Having totalled £98bn in 2017, £92bn in 2016 and £86bn in 2015; the data shows an approximate 6% increase per year.

Pint Shop to open in Birmingham

Pint Shop, the grilled meat and real ale business, is set to open its third site in Birmingham in October. Pub and Bar Magazine reports that there will be a bar area on the ground floor and a dining room on the first floor, with 50+ covers.

Kian Samyani to open Berenjak in Soho

Kian Samyani, former Gymkhana and Brigadiers chef, is set to open Berenjak in Romily Street, Soho. The Caterer reports that the restaurant will draw inspiration from Tehran's hole-in-the-wall street vendors. Set to open in October, Berenjak will use English produce to reinterpret rustic Persian kebab house dishes.

New Boutique Aparthotel to open in East London

Rockwell East, a new boutique aparthotel, is set to open in East London this September. According to Boutique Hotelier, the 57 apartment property has been designed by Waldo Works and owned by London-based developers Marldon.

Covent Garden Belgo reopens after refurb

Casual Dining Group's flagship Belgo restaurant in Covent Garden has reopened following a £100,000 refurbishment, reports The Caterer. The 450-cover space will now feature an open plan kitchen as well as a new bar with church chairs and beer hall tables.

New Ping Pong concept, SERVE, has acquired its debut flagship site in Birmingham. The 12,000 sq ft Birmingham unit is a former LA Fitness site, and situated below street level at 55a Temple Row in the city centre. The site will now undergo a £1 million refurbishment programme and is expected to open in early August.
