City Pub Group announce 35% sales increase

In their latest trading update, City Pub Group has announced a profit of £2m for 2018 as well as a 35% increase in year-on-year sales for the 19 weeks to 12th May, reports The Morning Advertiser.

Pizza, Pots & Pints expands to the East Midlands

Charles Wells' concept Pizza, Pots & Pints has expanded into the East Midlands, opening The Playwright on the 23rd May in Nottingham. Pub and Bar Magazine reports that Charles Wells acquired sites from The Orange Tree pub group last year, which will see Loughborough and Leicester converted to Pizza, Pots & Pints later this year, taking the concept to nine sites in total.

The Caterer reports that By Chloe will open a 72-cover site at Oxford Circus in mid-June as well as 78-cover restaurant at the O2. The new openings mark the brands third and fourth sites, joining flagship venue in Covent Garden and a Tower Bridge site which opened last June.

Mowgli to open Bristol restaurant

Indian street food brand Mowgli is set to open its first Bristol restaurant in October, which will occupy the former PizzaExpress site on Corn Street. Big Hospitality reports that openings in Leicester and Cardiff are also planned for later this year, joining sites in Manchester, Oxford, Birmingham, Sheffield, Nottingham and, founding city, Liverpool. Since having secured £3.45m from Foresight Group in 2017, the group have been expanding and cite London as an eventual move.

Permanent Snackbar site in Dalston

Snackbar, the pop-up concept from Freddie Janssen and former Nuala chef Anais van Manen, is to open a permanent site in Dalston, East London; occupying the former Farmshop Cafe on Dalston Lane. Propel reports that Snackbar will be working in conjunction with FARM:shop and launching a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

The Salcombe Trading Co Ltd has acquired The Fox and Hounds at Farleigh Wick, Bradford on Avon, from Ashford Homes. The family business, who have been restoring period properties for over 25 years, are applying for planning permission to restore the original inn, cottage and derelict barn to incorporate both residential and commercial usage.
