Hixon Green to open in Lewes

Hixon Green, the New York-style café/wine bar is set to open in the East Sussex market town of Lewes, reports The Morning Advertiser. Kate Dowd of Fleurets brokered the deal which sees Hixon Green acquire the former Aqua Restaurant. Hixon Green plans to open in Brighton in 2020.

Deka Immobilien purchases UK's largest aparthotel

Manchester's Ducie Street Warehouse, reputedly the UK's largest aparthotel, has been sold to German property investment firm, Deka Immobilien for £80m. The Caterer reports that the 166-bedroom property was recently expanded by vendors US private equity firm Ares Investment Management, with local developer Capital & Centric, having purchased the property from Goldman Sachs and Greystar in 2016. The aparthotel is, and will continue to be, operated by Native, who are owned by Ares Investment Management.

Brakspear marks 15th managed estate site with new acquisition

Brakspear has acquired the Golden Ball in Pinkneys Green near Maidenhead, which takes its managed estate to 15 pubs. The Caterer reports that the existing team will remain. Fleurets acted for the vendor.

Great Northern Group open Copper in Nottingham

Nottingham-based independent pub group, Great Northern Group, has opened Copper, a café bar concept, marking its fourth site for the concept. The café bar operation is housed in a grade II-listed Georgian townhouse in Nottingham's Market Place. Propel reports that group operates 12 venues in Nottinghamshire.

Hotel Brooklyn to open in Manchester

Hotel Brooklyn, Bespoke Hotels' sister property to Hotel Gotham in Manchester, is set to open in February next year. The 189-bedroom hotel has been designed by Squid Inc. and Motion, with inclusivity at the heart of its design. The Caterer reports that the hotel is located in Portland Street, Manchester.

Mercato Metropolitano has opened its first site in London, with three additional London openings planned for the coming six months. Big Hospitality reports that the first site opened on the 7th November in St. Mark's Church, Mayfair, following a two year and £5m restoration, undertaken by landlord Grosvenor. Mercato Metropolitano will launch MM Ilford in spring 2020 and also MM Factory at London's Elephant Park development later this year.
