No plans for Covid vaccine passports in pubs

The Government is not looking to introduce vaccine passports in pubs, secretary for transport Grant Shapps has said. However he has said that it will be required for close contact events, "we won't go as far as requiring it to enter a shop or the pub, but we will for very close contact things like going to nightclubs". This comes following operators stating that the implementation of vaccine passports would be an additional cost to their businesses reports iNews.

Restaurant and delivery groups offer incentives to help drive vaccine uptake

Pizza Pilgrims, Deliveroo and Uber Eats are amongst those set to offer discounts and incentives to customers who receive the Covid-19 vaccine, the Government has announced. The Caterer has reported that Uber will be offering discounted rides and meals on Uber Eats for young adults who get the jab. Other incentives could include vouchers or discount codes for people attending pop-up vaccine sites and booking though the NHS, social media competitions and promotional offers for restaurants. The Government has said it would publish further details on these partnerships "in due course", while health secretary Sajid Javid confirmed that companies will not ask for or hold any health data for the scheme.

Staycation boom benefits UK more than other countries

Tourism hotspots such as Wales, Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District are set for a major boost as Britons opt to spend the summer in the U.K. rather than abroad, reports the Financial Times. In new analysis published by the Resolution Foundation, it was found that the switch to staycations will boost Britain's tourist sector more than that of other countries. It also said that an extra £30.5 billion and 300,000 jobs would be injected into the British travel and hospitality sectors if all tourists across Europe replaced their foreign vacations with a holiday in their own country.

One-in-five hospitality workers still furloughed
