Established in 1820, leisure property specialists Fleurets have long been assisting in keeping the pub trade thriving. During this time, they have been retained to find countless pubs for a range of clients.
The latest addition to their client list is Lakedown Pub Group. Born out of the Lakedown Brewing Company, which was established in 2020, the brewery is a family business, established by The Who frontman and actor, Roger Daltrey, his son Jamie and son in laws, Chris Rule and Des Murphy. In just over two years, Lakedown has become a major player in the craft beer market across Sussex and Kent, gaining national recognition for the quality of their brewing.
In 2022, Lakedown recruited James Cuthbertson, former MD of Dark Star Brewing Co and operator of multi award-winning pubs, to the team and he now heads up the Lakedown Pub Group. In early 2024, Oliver Neilson joined the team bringing with him a vast amount of experience in design and construction.
As their team grows, so do their plans of building a small regional pubco. "Having opened the new brewery last September, we'd always planned to look at building a small pubco around that, to showcase the very best of our beers along with other amazing local brewers, distillers and food producers.
"Recognising that running a pubco demands very different skills from a brewery, we've built a new team, including the appointment of Oliver Neilson to the board," said James Cuthbertson. "It's very much our intention to only acquire a small estate to compliment the brewery," he added.
