Leisure property specialists Fleurets have completed the sale of the freehold interest in The Royal Oak, Twickenham, to The Heron Restaurant Group, the team behind The Swan in West Malling, Kent, and The Gosling in Surrey. The acquisition marks the third site in the group's growing portfolio.
The Royal Oak occupies a prominent corner position at the junction of Richmond Road and Oak Lane, directly opposite York House Gardens. Following a complete refurbishment the space will reopen as a high-end neighbourhood restaurant and cocktail bar similar in concept to group's restaurant, The Gosling, in Surrey.
The substantial three-storey Victorian end-of-terrace property was sold off a guide price of OIEO £1,000,000.
Nick Lavantis of The Heron Restaurant Group, commented, "We're delighted to acquire this Victorian property as we expand our portfolio to three sites. Following a full refurbishment, we'll be reopening as an exciting high-end neighbourhood restaurant and cocktail bar, similar in style to The Gosling in Surrey. This marks another strong step in our growth, and I look forward to working with Fleurets on future opportunities for many years to come."
James Davies, Director and Head of National Agency at Fleurets, added: "Having dealt with the Royal Oak several times in my career, we were grateful to our client, Stonegate Pub Company, for the instruction to sell their freehold interest. Despite the challenges being faced in the sector, good opportunities are still attracting interest and I am delighted the Royal Oak has found a fantastic new home with Nick and his team."
